The TRIA Ambulatory Surgery Center Patient Assistant provides direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, utilizing his/her skill and expertise to complement other health care providers. Major functions include: collect data, record and report patient information to the RN, assist patients with ambulating or provide appropriate activity using lift devices, transfer belts, etc. as necessary; assist with nutritional needs (feeding); perform vital signs, i.e., temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure; measure and record intake and output. Patient care is adapted to fit age-specific needs of each patient. Requirements include a High school graduate, current/validated CPR skills. Additional requirements include BLS certification, Nursing Assistant Certification preferred, Listed on the Nursing Assistant Registry, demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients.
