Job Description:

Regularly performs neurological tests on one or more of the following on adult patients as ordered by a physician: electroencephalogram (EEG): Inpatient/outpatient as well as OR monitoring; visual evoked response (VER); brain stem evoked response (BAER); somatosensory evoked response (SER); or electromyogram (EMG) procedures. (This person may or may not be trained to do both EEGs and EMGs, VERs, BAERs and SERs). Maintains files and records relevant to departmental activities and cleans and maintains equipment.

If trained to do EMG testing, the technologist in this class is responsible for obtaining standard, as well as advanced nerve conduction recordings in the laboratory setting under the direction of an electrodiagnostic medicine consultant. The technologist is responsible for checking and maintaining the instruments they use, and keep them in excellent working condition. This class of technologist continues education, researches new techniques, and will instruct junior personnel.


High school diploma or equivalent. Certification/graduate of accredited END program accredited by the Committee of Allied Health Education. An associate degree from an accredited college is preferred. IOM certification preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills/Certifications/Licenses:

• Strong clinical and human relations skills.
• Required registration by AAET and/or ABRET in at least one type of neurological test must be obtained within one year of employment date.
• Maintains CPR certification according to clinic policy and procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge of age related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients.

Additional Comments/Requirements:

The position will be dedicated to the process of EMG testing in a supportive role to the a provider. The role will primarily focus on EMG baseline testing in preparation for the provider examination.
