At TRIA, we understand athletes. Our comprehensive sports medicine team of orthopedic physicians, physical therapists, and athletic trainers have one common goal: To return you to your desired activity level safely, successfully, and as quickly as possible. The TRIA Sports Medicine team brings services to the Twin Cities community through our sideline medical coverage for local high school, college, team and community events as well as being the official team doctors for the Twins, Wild, and select Gopher athletics. Our innovative sports medicine programs provide specialized care whether you are recovering from a knee injury with our L.E.A.P. team or training for your next 5K. This expertise is available to individuals of all ages and abilities whether you are a recreational, high school, collegiate, or elite athlete.
Program & Services
TRIA athletic trainers are collaborative members of our sports medicine team providing prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic trainers provide medical services to athletes, patients, and community members in team, school, and large athletic event settings including youth, high school, collegiate, and special events.
TRIA’s physical therapists evaluate and treat patients who have functional limitations related to injury or disease. They work with you on a one-on-one basis to educate you on your injury, analyze your functional abilities and provide the most effective treatment. Before creating a treatment plan, our therapists fully assess any limitations you may have in strength or mobility.
At TRIA, we are committed to the comprehensive care of all athletic injuries including sport related concussions. The TRIA Sport Concussion Program is the only multi-disciplinary concussion program specializing specifically in the return to sport and physical activity in the region. Our team of specialists are committed to providing the best concussion care based in the latest scientific research and evidence-based studies. The collaboration of physicians, neuropsychologists, physicals therapists and athletic trainers all in one location, working together to develop individualized and active treatment plans for each athlete.
A Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is an assessment tool designed to gain an understanding of an individual’s mobility, stability and strength. TRIA athletic trainers and physical therapists will utilize results to identify asymmetries, imbalances or weakness in movement patterns.
TRIA L.E.A.P. (Lower Extremity Agility Program) is a six week training program designed to teach athletes to control their lower extremities using proper technique and form while performing high level activities after sustaining an injury.
TRIA Play Strong is designed to help individuals and teams implement current performance and injury prevention techniques into their training regimen to help prevent ACL injuries.
TRIA’s Running Program is designed to assist all runners whether recreational or competitive in managing their current conditions and preventing future injuries. We value a collaborative approach working together with physicians, physical therapists, and athletic trainers to deliver the care you need.
TRIA offers a comprehensive Return to Throwing Program, which includes collaboration between your physician, physical therapist, and athletic trainer. A biomechanical analysis of your throwing motion is recommended as a part of the Return to Throwing Program. Mechanical dysfunctions commonly result in recurrent injury.
