I injured my left and could barely walk. I saw Dr. Thoerner who thoroughly explained my injury to me and suggested a cortisone shot in addition to physical therapy. I had previously had a cortisone shot in my elbow for tennis elbow at another clinic and was hesitant to get another because it was rather painful. Dr. Thoerner was absolutely amazing as a caregiver. She walked me through the shot and it was rather simple and painless. She is highly skilled and was able to provide significant relief. I am back on my feet thanks to Dr. Thoerner. - Judith B., MN
I have been coming to TRIA for a couple of years with respect to a problem with my left knee. After having the initial X-Rays completed, it was suggested that since the problem was minor, some exercise and a Cortisone shot alleviate the issue for a good length of time. My physician is Dr. Heather Thoerner and I am "extremely pleased" with her medical treatment. She knows exactly where to place the injection and just how many CCs. I travel/fly extensively for work and due to limited time at home I have come to TRIA on a walk-in basis - when I am on the ground. None of the other physicians, and it is only because they do not treat my medical issue routinely, have hit the perfect spot to relieve the pain for a good six-months. Dr. Thoerner is right on the spot each and every time and walking out the door to my car, I automatically begin whistling with relief. But more importantly, besides being a really great physician, she is a wonderful human being. One could only wish every physician was like her. My profession is setting up GME Residency Training Programs for hospitals around the Country and I have met hundreds and hundreds of physicians and even more Residents just out of Medical School. After 45 years of this type of work, I know what constitutes a good physician. Dr. Heather Thoerner is a really, really good physician! - Thomas W., MN
We were in Minnesota for Softball Nationals. My daughter is a pitcher and had an injury during the 4th inning of the first of many games. She experienced a "popping sensation" under her clavicle, followed by severe pain. After being evaluated at the Tria Mobile onsite, we were referred to the walk-in clinic. We saw Dr. Thoerner, who did a very thorough exam followed by xrays. She was very compassionate and explained everything very well to us. Thankfully, the injury was not as severe as we had initially thought. It was a strain of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, involving the 1st rib. Although my daughter was in a considerable amount of pain, Dr. Thoerner knew how much this trip meant to her, and that we had traveled from Chicago to play softball. Dr. Thoerner and the staff at TRIA, were able to get us an appointment with Shuhei Suzuki that same day for physical therapy. Dr. Thoerner was confident that our daughter might be able to play after some therapy. Our visit with Shuhei was nothing short of a miracle. He listened to everything we described about her injury, her expectations and how she was feeling at the time. My daughter went into the visit with him unable to lift her left arm or rotate it without pain. We left the appointment approximately 90 minutes later completely pain-free!! Shuhei worked on her injured muscle and the supporting muscles and structures until she felt great. He gave us sound advice on how she should care for her injury for the remainder of the weekend and after we returned home. Because of him, she was able to pitch the rest of the weekend and her team was very successful at Nationals!! Thank you TRIA, Dr. Thoerner and Shuhei Suzuki!! - Laura G., Chicago, IL
