About us

Advancing orthopedic medicine since 2005

TRIA has been at the forefront of orthopedic medicine in the Midwest since its founding in 2005. With orthopedics, sports medicine, physical therapy, orthopedic urgent care, same-day surgery center and so much more, we offer world class care that’s comprehensive, convenient and compassionate.

TRIA has brought many advancements to the market, including the Twin Cities’ only orthopedist-staffed walk-in orthopedic urgent care, our innovative hotel recovery program, and a Sport Concussion Program for comprehensive management of sports concussions.

Through collaboration with the TRIA Research and Education Center, our doctors and staff continue to develop new programs while collecting, measuring and evaluating patient care to improve and accelerate recovery.

Our mission and vision

We believe TRIA’s success comes from the talent of our people, the quality of our services, the satisfaction of our patients and our dedication to our profession.

Our mission is to provide our patients and community with exceptional service, and innovative orthopedic care and sports medicine advanced by research and education.

Our vision is to be recognized nationally for driving innovation and discoveries, with a focus on providing an unparalleled patient experience, achieving leading clinical outcomes via expert teams and delivering the highest value for our services.

Clinical research, education and outcomes are key components of our mission. We continue to educate the next generation of clinicians, as well as offer ample opportunities for continuing medical education for our staff and the community.

To improve the care we provide, we’re always tracking and analyzing our patient outcomes. Our research and education center provides numerous educational opportunities for fellows, residents, medical students and health professionals – such as our Surgical Skills Lab where they can learn in a simulated surgical setting.

Our patient experience

The level of care you get at TRIA is second to none. We model our patient service after the kind of attention you’d receive at a fine dining restaurant or five-star hotel. Because the patient experience is at the center of everything we do, we provide many amenities to our patients and their families during their time at TRIA.

From a concierge who can help you and your family throughout your visit to translation services and free Wi-Fi, small comforts are available at all our locations. Don’t hesitate to ask the concierge or a member of your care team for help during your visit.

Our history

TRIA was born out of a desire to empower patients to be involved in their care and strengthen the connection between patients and their doctors.

A partnership was formed between The Orthopedic Center, Park Nicollet Health Services, and the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Minnesota to create TRIA Orthopedic Center. Our founding orthopedic surgeons combined their talents and expertise to work toward a shared goal – improving care and leading the way in orthopedic research and education, all while making it easier for patients, care providers, insurance companies and hospitals to work together.

On March 15, 2005, we opened our first location at 494 and France Avenue in Bloomington, Minnesota. We’ve had tremendous growth in recent years, expanding to accommodate an increasing number of patients. Today, we have many locations across the Twin Cities as we continue to offer comprehensive orthopedic care from diagnosis and treatment to surgery and recovery – all under one roof.

Our partnerships

HealthPartners & Park Nicollet

TRIA is part of Park Nicollet Health Services, which combined with HealthPartners in 2013. HealthPartners is a top-ranked commercial health plan serving medical and dental members nationwide. The combination of the two complementary organizations builds stronger coordination of patient care. It also establishes links between care and insurance, leading to increased transparency, choice and value for customers.

HealthPartners is now the largest consumer-governed, nonprofit health care organization in the nation. With a focus on providing outstanding health care to all of our patients, the HealthPartners mission is to improve health and well-being in partnership with its members, patients and the community.

The Orthopedic Center

Sports medicine doctors from The Orthopedic Center, who are now part of TRIA Orthopedic Center, have served as team physicians to Minnesota professional sports teams and numerous local colleges and high school athletic programs for more than 25 years. Our sports-medicine physicians are committed to patient care, education and research. It’s this experience and dedication that improves the management of sport-related injuries for athletes of all ages and skill levels.

TRIA also trains future sports medicine professionals through our accredited sports medicine fellowship program in affiliation with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Minnesota.

University of Minnesota Department of Orthopaedic Surgery

A number of the physicians who practice at TRIA are faculty at the University of Minnesota. Collaborating with the University of Minnesota Department of Orthopaedic Surgery strengthens our clinical research and education, allowing us to provide expert clinical care and teach the next generation of leaders.

TRIA partners with academic faculty from the University of Minnesota across the spectrum of orthopedic medicine and maintains a nationally recognized education program for orthopedic surgery residents and fellows.
