Providing care for Twin Cities athletes at all skill levels

We understand the hard work, sweat and tears that athletes put into their sports. We also know how heartbreaking it can be for athletes to experience an injury and be kept on the sidelines.

Our team provides care for athletes of all skill levels and ages, from professional sports teams to high school and amateur sports leagues. No matter the injury, our sports medicine providers are available to assess and treat it as quickly and effectively as possible.

Minnesota Wild

TRIA is the exclusive orthopedic partner of the Minnesota Wild, providing on-ice medical coverage for the Wild and visiting teams. Together with Regions Hospital, we’ve maintained a long-standing partnership with the Wild dating back to the team’s inaugural season in 2000. Regions is the preferred hospital of the Minnesota Wild, and its event medicine team is available at all home games to care for fans, responding whenever help is needed.

TRIA sports medicine surgeon Dr. Joel Boyd has been the team physician for the Wild since 2000, while Dr. Brad Nelson joined the medical team in 2008, and Dr. Gary Fetzer joined in 2021. As the official team physicians, Drs. Boyd, Nelson and Fetzer attend practices and games, conduct yearly physicals and help the players get back on the ice after injury. TRIA physical therapists Brian Theisen, DPT, and Chad Kofoed, DPT, are also important parts of the Wild’s medical team, working with the Wild Athletic Training staff to help players rehabilitate after injury.

In 2017, TRIA became the naming rights partner to the Minnesota Wild’s new practice facility – TRIA Rink. It’s home to the Minnesota Wild, Minnesota Whitecaps, Hamline University and open to the community for open skate and events.

Minnesota Twins

Since 1986, Dr. John Steubs has been the medical director and team physician for the Minnesota Twins. As the team physician, Dr. Steubs attends practices and games, providing care for players, coaches and umpires.

Minnesota Whitecaps

TRIA has been the official medical provider for the Minnesota Whitecaps since 2018. The Whitecaps medical team, led by Dr. Anne Moore as medical director, in partnership with Dr. Caitlin Chambers and Dr. Aimee Custer, marked the first all-female medical staff for a professional sports team in the U.S. The Minnesota Whitecaps games are held at TRIA Rink in Saint Paul.
